Chris Kirwan's novel Shadowers Crossing is a time travel novel with elements of real historical fact, spanning 1,000 years from the Saxons to the Liverpool Blitz.
Its two main characters, Edgar and Roy, are separated by the Mersey but also a 1,000-year gap in time.
They have to fight against evil forces - fallen angels called the Necrotim - who seek to undermine mankind at every turn.
Chris has based much of the book on the historical detail surrounding King Alfred the Great's daughter Ethelfleda, and her battle against the Vikings at the site of Castle Rock, Runcorn, in 915AD.
It also focuses on the two towns during the Liverpool Blitz in the run-up to Christmas 1940.
